About Us

Our goal is to understand autism and develop treatment tools. We use evidence-based research and connect with communities. We work on treatments that are useful outside of research settings. And we provide parents, professionals, teachers, and other community members with tools that are proven to make an impact.

AIR-B is made possible by grants from the Health Resources and Services Administration, part of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. And with community partners who participate in all stages of research.

Community partnerships are key to how AIR-B works. Our work is always informed by the community. Our partners have helped us improve research design and bring greater awareness to our work. Together we have pushed the field of autism research forward.

AIR-B works with the community to help children with autism. We conduct studies at many sites to learn about the problems children with autism face. And we focus our efforts on children who have been under-represented and lack services.

We, the AIR-B Network stand in solidarity and in action with our community partners. We are outraged at the injustices that hurt Black communities across this country. And mourn the countless Black lives ended by structural racism and police brutality.

Each life lost carries the ugly history of countless deaths, as well as the reality that very little is changing. Injustice is woven into the fabric of our communities, experienced as disparities in education, legal, and healthcare outcomes.

AIR-B is committed to equity for communities of color. People who have, for so long, not received the disability services they need. Sentiment is not enough; we must address systems of racism with anti-racist action. We join with our partners to dedicate our research, tools, and training toward bridging these gaps.
